Help with Tattoo Removal Aftercare

Management Strategies for Healing and Recovery

The tattoo removal process can be a long and challenging journey. However, it’s essential to take care of yourself during the healing process to ensure that you recover properly. In this article, we’ll discuss the best ways to manage your recovery after getting a tattoo removed.

The First Few Days After Treatment

It is recommended that you do not expose your skin to the sun for a minimum of three days after treatment. The UV rays can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of blistering, which may lead to further complications during recovery.

It’s essential not to apply any makeup, creams, or lotions to the newly treated areas within the first few days. Applying salvon, vaseline, Vitamin E ointment, or hydrocortisone can help to heal the area once you can remove the bandage.

Can I Shower After A Tattoo Removal Session?

When you shower after your tattoo removal treatment, it’s recommended to use lukewarm water and mild soap. Try to avoid high-pressure water and be careful not to scrub the area too hard or get any lotions in contact with your skin following treatment.

Tips To Make Recovery Even Faster

  • Stay Hydrated: You’ll want to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration.
  • Take It Easy: You should avoid strenuous activities during your recovery to help prevent the scarring from worsening.
  • Protect Your Skin: It’s best not to go outside during peak daylight hours until your skin has healed completely- especially if you’re sensitive to sunlight exposure! Wear some type of sunblock when exposed to direct sunlight after getting treated for at least three days or until you’re able to fully recover and heal on your own without any outside assistance.
  • Take Pain Medication For Swelling: Take ibuprofen for the first few days to reduce inflammation and pain. Swelling is completely normal after tattoo removal, so don’t feel concerned if you are experiencing this symptom.
  • Attend Your Follow-Up Appointments: Keep up with follow-ups appointments following your treatment so we can monitor any potential complications that may arise as you recover from tattoo removal therapy. We’ll also be able to answer any questions about healing procedures once it comes time for post-treatment care!
  • Avoid Picking Scabs or Blisters: After a tattoo removal treatment, it is essential not to pick any scabs or blisters that appear on your skin. The area will be at its most fragile, and picking the layers of healing skin can lead to an infection. When you open your wound, you can not only prolong the healing process, but you can also increase the risk of infection, so try to avoid this altogether.
