Our laser system can remove almost all colours for most clients, but it can be dependent on the skin health of the individual and how deep the colour is.
Some colours are harder to fully remove than others, but in the rare circumstances where we’re unable to fully remove a coloured tattoo, we would recommend a client consider having a further cover-up tattoo.
Your skin will most likely be red and feel like it has a mild sunburn. This typically goes away after a couple of hours. There may also be some bruising. At times and with certain inks, there may be mild blistering that usually heals in about a week. After each treatment, you will be given instructions on how to care for your treated area.
We offer a dual-rod Pico-focused machine. The pinnacle of available removal technology, our Pico machine takes fewer sessions than on a Q-switched Nd: Yag, handles colours better and causes less thermal damage. This then reduces pain and speeds up recovery.
Many companies use out-of-date machines that take more sessions to remove a tattoo. They operate old Nd:Yag models (the most common machines used) that have low max power settings that then leads to a higher number of sessions. In many cases the tattoo will fade but not disappear completely.
The Pico that we use is even more efficient and powerful than any other Nd:Yag model. It is using pressure, rather than heat to break ink in a more effective manner. What this means for you is fewer sessions, less pain and a better result!
Our pricing is based on the amount of time it takes to complete a session. This is obviously tied to the size of the tattoo, but also how many colours there are in the tattoo. Another factor can be how complex it is (more colours and greater complexity, then requires longer sessions).
Amongst operators in the North West with comparable removal technology, we are the most competitively priced.
Our quotes are higher than operator’s using outdated machines. As discussed above, these old machines are radically inefficient in comparison to the modern lasers we use. The take home for you is that although individual sessions are more expensive, the reduced number facilitated by our machines means the whole removal process works out cheaper.
If you can sit through a tattoo session, you can certainly sit through a tattoo removal session. The session is generally 20% of the time that it takes to put the tattoo on your skin. We can stop when you need and break whenever suits.
This is a major bit of kit that most laser removal companies do not have and we offer it for free. We aim to make the session as comfortable for you as possible, and this is deemed as the newest generation of cryo therapy around. This amazing machine decreases the temperature of the skin, which reduces the risk of skin burns.
The same rules apply for tattoo removal as they do for a tattoo. Please wear comfortable clothes and ensure that you do not come on an empty stomach. Ensure the area of skin that we are going to laser has nothing on it, we will shave it for you, or you can shave it prior to attending. We ask you to not apply fake tan to the area or anything that can block the treatment.
You may choose to use numbing cream at your own risk, although we don’t suggest it. Sessions are relatively short, if you come prepared having eaten and remain relaxed, sessions are entirely manageable. We do offer a cooling machine as part of our service; this numbs the target area. Aloe Vera and Savlon keeps any post-session pain in check.
If you can sit through a tattoo, you will be more than fine sitting for removal.
It’s impossible to say exactly how many sessions it will take; it varies too much from person to person. As well as the laser, removal times are also affected by the immune system. The better your body is at flushing ink out, the fewer sessions it will take.
What we can do is a comparative analysis of session numbers in comparison to weaker machines. Conservatively session numbers are reduced as follows:
Multi-wavelength Pico – 80% fewer sessions
Absolutely! Tattoo Removal Stockport was born out of the need to fade tattoos ready for a cover at Flesh Tattoo. A large portion of our business is preparing customers for a cover-up whether that be full removal or fading parts of the tattoo.
In general, there should be no scarring, this is especially true on the Pico machine (since its shorter pulse duration causes less thermal damage). In some cases, there is very minor scarring or lightening of the skin, but this is normally very subtle and hardly visible. It is very important for you to follow the aftercare documentation, as poor aftercare can create scarring.
We leave a minimum of 6 weeks between sessions to ensure that your skin is completely healed and ready before we carry out more tattoo removal work.
Laser removal is a non-invasive process, as such aftercare is relatively straightforward, but still very important. We recommend Aloe Vera to cool the area and Savlon to keep it clean. If you have any questions after a session, please contact us anytime.
You can never know for sure with tattoo removal as to whether it will completely disappear or not. What we can say is that we have had some amazing results where the skin is completely clear from any tattoo ink and that we have one of the most advanced machines in the world. The main reason as to why we or any other company cannot promise that it will completely go is because there are a few factors that are out of our control, these are:
If you follow the aftercare instructions and the company that you go to use a professional-grade system that is safe for the skin, you should gain no scarring from the treatment. As a business, we all emphasise to our clients that you must follow the aftercare outside your treatments.
Yes, you can remove old ink from scarred skin. It is often the case after someone has been poorly tattooed, maybe where the tattoo artist has gone too deep into the skin during the session or overworked the skin. However, tattoo removal will not remove the scars from the skin, other treatments are available to help resurface the skin.
If you want to book a consultation at any time, all you need to do is click the “Book your Consultation” button on the website and choose a convenient date and time for your appointment. All consultations are free of charge.
If you decide that you want to go ahead with the tattoo removal treatment after the discussion with our laser specialist, we will start your treatment. In your first session we will carry out a patch test on varying powers with the laser machine to see what works best with your skin, we will also use the cooling machine in this session to minimise the pain and swelling. Then we will book you in for your actual treatment anytime that suits you 7 days after the patch test.
